Three days are enough to see the essentials of Djerba without rushing, as long as you group your visits by area. Here is the itinerary we recommend to visitors who stop by Sultana.
- Day 1, Houmt Souk: the souks and the Borj el-Kebir fort in the morning, the harbour in the afternoon, then a Djerbian dinner in Midoun.
- Day 2, the island's interior: the murals of Djerbahood and the El Ghriba synagogue in Erriadh, then the potters of Guellala.
- Day 3, the coast: Sidi Mahrez beach or a boat trip to Ras R'mel; if it is market day, start at the Midoun market.
Djerba in 3 days: your questions
Do you need a car for this itinerary?
It is easier, but taxis and organised trips also cover these three days.
Where should you stay to visit Djerba?
The tourist zone of Midoun and Sidi Mahrez has most of the seafront hotels; Houmt Souk lets you stay in town, close to the souks.
